Carole: Here is the link to UMB's Faculty Eligibility Policy.

http://www.ord.umaryland.edu/policies_procedures/external_grants_funds.html

You will notice that in order to be eligible you have to have an appointment of 50% or greater and meet certain criteria that qualifies the individual for faculty status. Adjunct faculty would not be eligible under this policy. The exception would be a request to the respective Dean to waive the requirement. At UMB only the dean can grant the waiver with the identification of a UMB faculty who will assume oversight responsibility of an award should one be made.

Hi all,

How do you determine who can be a PI or Co-PI on a project for your institution? Does it have to be a full-time faculty member? Can adjuncts be PI's? What about staff or part-time employees? Do you have a policy that addresses this?

Thanks for any info you care to share. Have a great Thursday.

Carole
