Larry;

At Tennessee Tech University, we were faced with a similar situation at this time last year. We chose to go with InfoEd's SPINPlus. Some data results appear dated, but we had similar issues when using COS.

InfoEd's revamping their interface...currently implemented in their SPIN Quick Search. It's pretty nice and slick.

The money that was saved using InfoEd's SPINPlus also allowed us to subscribe to In4Grants. In4Grants has its own 'find' function. Additionally, they receive a data feed from InfoEd, so we can use In4Grants' interface to conduct our searches (if we choose).

My two cents.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Grant Opportunities Search Tools

As many of you know, the Community of Science (COS) grant opportunities search tool, which we currently use, is transitioning to Pivot. With that transition would come a quadrupling of our annual fee to about $7,000. As you might expect, despite a stated huge increase in functionality, we are not able to justify the cost.

We also know that IRIS is moving to Cazoodle (great name) GrantForward . And then there is SPIN.

So, do any of you out in grantland have any suggestions, observations, likes and dislikes, advice, new plans of action….....

Larry
