Northern Arizona University invites nominations and applications for the
position of Director of Grant and Contract Services. The Director of Grant
and Contract Services provides administrative leadership for the Office of
Grant and Contract Services, and reports directly to the Vice Provost for
Research and Graduate Studies. The Office of Grant and Contract Services
serves as the central administrative office responsible for submitting
proposals to state, federal, and private sponsors for external funding and
implementing awards resulting from these proposals, including associated
regulatory requirements.
Description
Supervise the Office of Grant and Contract Services, including facilitating
the coordination of office practices and procedures.
Provide leadership in the review and negotiation of institutional
agreements governing sponsored projects, educational internships, and
collaborative academic programs.
Assist the coordination of administrative/business practices between the
Office of Grant and Contract Services (pre-award and post-award
non-financial matters) and Sponsored Project Services (financial management).
Monitor developments in federal and state agencies as they impact on
funding regulations, policies, etc.
Assist in drafting and implementing policies pertaining to research and the
appropriate conduct of research, including Intellectual Property issues.
Provide leadership in the implementation of regulatory policies and
procedures in areas including Institutional Animal Care, Protection of
Human Subjects, and Radiation and Biosafety.

Minimum Qualifications
At least 5 years experience in sponsored projects administration, in a
university or other non-profit setting, with some experience in supervising
office staff.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to provide high-quality service in a timely manner.
Master's degree or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Knowledge of state and federal regulations as they pertain to grants and
contracts.
Knowledge of current issues relating to patents and intellectual property
Experience in the review and negotiation of sponsored project agreements,
particularly with state and federal agencies.
Experience with regulatory requirements, including Institutional Animal
Care, Protection of Human Subjects, and Radiation and Biosafety.
Ability to oversee budgets.
Ability to work in a team structure.
Ability to work with a wide diversity of principal investigators and sponsors.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with external deadlines and
short turn-around time.
Annual Salary
$55,000 - $62,000, commensurate with experience.
