Good Day!

I would like to hear from you regarding your experience with
transferring grants and grant-related equipment from one institution
to another.  We have dealt with the straightforward transfer of a
grant.  However, now we have the question of transferring equipment
which was acquired through an equipment grant proposed by
a single investigator for very specific work.  The University cost-shared
one third of the acquisition cost of the equipment.  The investigator is still
currently funded by the same agency and is moving to a new institution.

Have you had a similar situation where the equipment is being moved?
Who paid for moving the equipment?  Did the new institution provide any
reimbursement for the cost of acquiring the equipment (i.e., did the new
institution repay the old institution a portion of the cost-share that had been
required to win the equipment grant)?

Your "war" stories will be greatly appreciated.
