Re: postdoctoral appointments Sharon Jackiw 26 Oct 1998 11:05 EST

This query is for list members whose universities recognize both
postdoctoral fellows (i.e., trainees not in employment status) and
postdoctoral associates (i.e., employees). What do your personnel
policies and procedures see as the essential differences? How do they
discriminate, in terms of relevant labor law, between those two
categories -- particularly when members of both may be performing the
same activities, in the same lab, supported by the same grant, etc?

I'd be grateful for any information you can give me, including
references to websites or other information resources, or personal
references to a member of your human resources administration who
would be willing to provide guidance.
