At ACHRI, we use the IRB at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
(all our investigators are UAMS faculty).  Their IRB submissions must first
come through my office, and our copy of the proposal includes the budget.
No other copy includes the budget and therefore no other committee member
sees any budgetary information.  Any conflicts of interest are to be
disclosed on one of the IRB forms, and any subject payment/incentive is to
be included in the consent form and protocol.  No other budget information
should be relevant or necessary.

For those of you who operate IRBs, IACUCs and IBCs--If your committees
operate like ours, at least one committee member receives a copy of the
complete proposal before the meeting.  Do you remove the
budget--especially salary info?
