Suzette, we're still sending out a paper newsletter every 3-4 weeks. Four
pages, brief opening saying whatever we feel like saying, some opportunities
which might interest folks, list of the proposals submitted and grants received
during the last month (peer pressure is a wondrous thing), plus a cartoon.
Every year or two I ask folks if they read the newsletter, they mostly say yes.
The cartoon first, then the proposals submitted/grants received, then the
opportunities.
Have we actually gotten any grants as a result of the newsletter? None that I
could readily identify, in the last few years at least, but it's still a good
way to send out a regular reminder of what we do. And this year we've started
adding more faculty development opportunities and announcements.
Last year we started posting the newsletter to our webpage as well, with
hotlinks to URL sites. Few access it, but I think more and more will. We also
flag particular opportunities to particular faculty, of course.
Call us old-fashioned, I guess.
