Funding Source Specialists Peter Koch 01 Oct 1998 13:09 EST

Fellow RESADM-L Subscribers:

I am evaluating the need for a new position at our institution that will be a
"funding source specialist." By that I mean, will be responsible for
establishing and maintaining a faculty interest database, working with
investigators to identify funding needs/potential sponsors, becoming the
resident expert/trainer for SPIN, COS, etc., and to some extent helping
facilitate proposal development and submission. This person will likely
deal both with Federal and major agency funding sources (the typical
"sponsored programs" stuff) as well as private agency sponsors (the
traditional "development office" stuff.) I know that other institutions have
similar types of positions and would be interested in copies of job
descriptions (with some idea of compensation level, if possible),
reporting relationships, as well as words of wisdom and/or warning.

Thanks.

Pete
