At the University of Arizona (and other state schools, I¹m sure), bonuses are not allowed since we are state employees. We do have a supplemental compensation policy that allows for extra work to be paid, but the requirements for this policy are strict; it¹s not simply ³more hours², it has to be more hours either assigned to a different unit, or hours worked in a job classification that is different than the employee currently holds. The common conventional definition of a salaried employee is that the salary is for the work performed, regardless of the number of hours worked. That¹s why we don¹t get overtime :) I wonder if the FLSA will help here?
