It looks to me that a-122 is pretty clear:

Under Section 8. m. (2) (c) it states that "The reports must be signed by the individual employee, or by a responsible supervisory official having first hand knowledge of the activities performed by the employee."

The "or" is consistent with what we find in A-21 "the signature of the employee or of a person having direct knowledge of the work..."

While it is certainly OK to require more than the Feds stipulate, why would you impose a process on yourself that is unnecessary?

Good morning all,

We are a non-profit research institution and are hoping to reduce the administrative burden of our effort certification process.  I'm aware of A122's certification requirements, but would like to poll other institution's on their own practice.

Do you require more than one certifying effort signature?  The employee whose salary or wage is being charged AND a supervisor, PI or other?  We're currently requiring two signatures (employee and PI) but have found it cumbersome and probably unnecessary.

All thoughts are welcome.
