Trying to make eRA affordable Chris Thompson 16 Dec 2013 10:17 EST

Colleagues,

The team at MŌDERAS has long sought an eRA (Electronic Research
Administration) solution that would be cost effective for smaller
institutions who carry the same burdens as their larger counterparts.
The open source application Kuali Coeus (KC) holds great promise in this
regard, the software is free and there's strong community support but
the cost of implementation and hosting can still put it out of the reach
of many with limited resources. MŌDERAS is investigating a possible
approach to drive that cost down to make eRA affordable for everyone.
We're considering what's referred to as a "multi-tenancy" solution which
would allow a single hosted environment to be shared by multiple
institutions driving down the hosting cost. Additionally for
implementation we can offer our SynKronize tool at no cost allowing for
data to be automatically imported into KC from your systems of record.
This is usually one of the single largest costs so we feel we can help
clear this hurdle. We're also planning to provide monthly webinars on
configuring KC to help adopters learn about the system and get up and
running. We're not sure this is enough and are seeking your ideas on
what other things you feel you'd need help with.

We're eager to hear your thoughts, please take a minute and fill out our
10 question survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3RKHYGB. We're
seeking comments from both proponents and those who may have
reservations so we can get feedback from both sides. If the response is
positive we will reach out to a small group of those interested to
discuss a pilot program to see if together we can make this fly.

Best regards,
Chris
