Charlie,

Yes, it is possible for the PI to initiate the eSNAP, even though the RPPR is the required report. Commons has both options available, and the PI will need to make sure they select the RPPR, not the eSNAP. Here is a link to the most recent NIH Notice:

http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-13-061.html

If the PI initiated an eSNAP progress report instead of the RPPR, it may take the eRA Commons up to two business days to reset the progress report so the user can initiate a progress report in the appropriate format. If fellows submit their reports on paper instead of the RPPR, they will be rejected.

I hope that was helpful!

Is it possible for a PI to initiate an eSNAP on eRA Commons when the RPPR is clearly required? There is more than one path to get into the progress report (i.e. via status or via the eSNAP tab) but for one application it seemed that the only option was the RPPR. Is this correct generally?
thanks
Charlie Hathaway
