Thank you. I had no idea. -----Original Message----- From: Research Administration List [mailto:xxxxxx@lists.healthresearch.org] On Behalf Of Schoen, Alexander Sent: Friday, June 03, 2011 11:20 AM To: xxxxxx@lists.healthresearch.org Subject: Re: [RESADM-L] Deadlines for faculty serving on study sections Yes, if they are an appointed member (that is, an actual member of the study section, not an ad hoc member) regular deadlines don’t apply. However, including a person as a multiple PI just because they can submit any time they want to does not seem to be a scientifically valid reason for using the Multiple PI format, also, it would be helpful to check if ALL PI's must be on study sections. Also - which PI would be able to submit late, probably the Contact PI. http://grants1.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-08-026.html ----------------------------------------- Alexander Schoen Director, Office of Sponsored Programs Winthrop-University Hospital 222 Station Plaza North, Suite 510 Mineola, NY 11501 Phone: (516) 663-4931 Fax: (516) 663-9718 xxxxxx@winthrop.org www.winthrop.org Please consider the environment before printing this email -----Original Message----- From: Research Administration List [mailto:xxxxxx@lists.healthresearch.org] On Behalf Of Bonnie Kwit Sent: Friday, June 03, 2011 11:15 AM To: xxxxxx@lists.healthresearch.org Subject: [RESADM-L] Deadlines for faculty serving on study sections An email discussion has just taken place between two faculty members trying to decide if an NIH proposal should go in as a Multiple PI or not. It was stated that "a good reason to go in as multiple PIs is that we don't have to conform to the NIH deadline" (which is June 16) "because I'm on the study section we can submit by August 1 and still be reviewed with everyone else". Has anyone ever heard of that before? people on study sections get special priledges?
