Grants.gov senior staff have been working on this for a while when there is a VIRUSDETECT that does not meet already published info. Be sure to check the current rules. Note that the VIRUSDETECT error can result from either a real virus or from an attachment that is too long or has special characters ======== From Grants.gov iPortal knowledge base The error message VIRUSDETECT could indicate that the application package has been corrupted by a virus, or that the file attachment names do not meet the required length or format. First, use a virus protect program to run a virus scan on the entire application package. Ensure that your package is completely free of viruses before resubmission. Second, check the file attachment names. File attachment names longer than approximately 50 characters can cause problems processing application. Please limit file attachment names to less than 50 characters. In addition, do not use special characters (example: %, /, #) or spacing in the file and for word separation. If you need spaces in the name, use the underscore (example: my_Attached_File.pdf) in naming the attachments. If these guidelines are not followed, the application package may be rejected. dash - amps & and anything else not a number or letter may cause a problem. This can happen with both S2S and Adobe. ======= Moreover file extensions ending in "x" may be a problems = pptx, or docx. Check all attachment file names and lengths and resubmit. We did an Adobe submission that got VD error, double checked, found a dash in budget justification attachment. Had an S2S submission with pptx extension file, it got the VD, changed to pdf and it passed Bob ___________________________________ Robert Beattie Managing Senior Project Representative Division of Research Development and Administration University of Michigan 3003 S.
