In which case I would calculate the F&A on the total direct costs and I would not exclude anything from the base. Marjorie

Dear Colleagues,
We have a MTDC F&A/Indirect rate. When instructions in an RFP say something like “shall not exceed 7.5% of the direct costs” would you use a 7.5% direct costs F&A rate or would you exempt the categories in the institutional MTDC before applying the 7.5% F&A? What is your institutional policy?
Sincerely,
Lisa A. Wilson, B.S., M.Ed.
