Opportunity at Rutgers-Contract Negotiator Lori DeMartino 05 Nov 2009 17:07 EST

Contract Negotiator (Research Grant and Contract Specialist)
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks a Research Grant and
Contract Specialist to negotiate research agreements and contracts in the
Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
For FY09, Rutgers faculty competed successfully for nearly $400M in
research funding from federal, industry, foundation and other agencies, an
increase of 20% from FY08. Award mechanisms included grants, contracts,
cooperative agreements, as well as incoming and outgoing subawards.
Although the primary focus of a new specialist would be subcontract
preparation and negotiation, the specialist would eventually have some
degree of responsibility for agreements in general. Currently ORSP staff
develop/negotiate:
.	Subawards/subcontracts
.	Memoranda of understanding or agreement with counties,
municipalities, small and large non-profits
.	Service agreements
.	Task orders
.	Master agreements
.	Fixed fee agreements
.	Federal contracts
.	Teaming agreements
.	Confidentiality agreements
.	Material transfer agreements
.	User agreements
.	Clinical trials agreements
Other parties to the agreements may be other universities or non-profits,
federal agencies, or companies.
Qualifications: The preferred candidate will be a recent law school
graduate or experienced paralegal. Contract experience, along with a B.A.,
is desired.

Possible salary range: $70,000-$75,000
