We have not charged federal grants.  Our University would cover it under our own insurance.

So you have a federal grant supported service project on your campus, and
one of the participants (a minor) accidently damages a large piece of
expensive university equipment-who/what is liable for this damage? The
approve budget in the grant award includes only a small amount of accident
insurance in case something happens to participants. Therefore, I am
assuming that the University's insurance would have to cover it.

Does anyone charge federal grants for liability insurance?
