Caryn: This is an issue of interest to the University Industry Demonstration Partnership (www.uidp.org ) and Tyler Thompson from Dow, a UIDP Founding Circle member, has kindly agreed to assist you. I have asked him to contact you Tony Anthony M. Boccanfuso, Ph.D. Executive Director University-Industry Demonstration Partnership The National Academies 500 5th Street, NW Keck Building 550 Washington. The UIDP: Fosters dialogue across the university-industry divide on issues such as tech transfer, licensing, sponsored research, and the broader aspects of university-industry partnering. Develops/beta tests tools and approaches that unify and streamline university-industry agreements. A major current project is TurboNegotiator, an approach and software tool designed to minimize time-to-agreement in sponsored research. Achieves consensus on guiding principles for university-industry endeavors. Challenges long-held beliefs on innovation, sponsored research, and tech transfer — with data. Seeks out best practices in university-industry partnering around the globe; disseminates these to its members through presentations, publications, and town hall discussions. Fosters extensive personal networks “on the other side” through side-by-side collaboration on specific projects and more casual interaction at meetings. Values openness, transparency, tangible results, and a collaborative spirit. Anthony M.
