Kathy,

What is the type of multiyear funded award (R03, R21, R15)? If it is any of these type of awards, then the original funding limitation would not apply to an R01 application.

On the carryover question, I would say no, as an R01 award would be issued under a different award number. You can, however request a no cost extension on the original award & delay the start date of an R01 for a similar period.

Subject: [RESADM-L] RF1 to R01 continuation budget questions

Hi everyone,
I am assisting with an RF1 award that is ending, and we are submitting the continuation to the R01 phase for years 4-5. I don't see anything about budget limits, but the PI mentioned we cannot ask for more money than we were awarded. Does that mean the difference between what was requested and what we were awarded is what we can budget for the R01 phase?

Also, is RF1 carry forward allowed to the R01 phase?

I've googled plenty and can't find these details.

Thanks,
Kathy
