As Joel said, Institutional Research. If you're not familiar with the IR office, we're the ones who often do the data generation, mandated Federal reporting for IPEDS and Department of Ed, and number crunching for assessment. As far as I know, I'm unique in the combination of SPO and IR into one office. Kalamazoo used to have a combined office, but they have since split it out. IR really does take about 90% of my time, but that's because we are a liberal arts teaching institution with only small dabbles into large-scale research funding.
