Does anyone use Microsoft Dynamics 365 for sponsored research?

Hello out there —
Does anyone use Microsoft Dynamics 365 as their financial system for sponsored research? My organization—which mostly does not do sponsored projects accounting outside of my department—is currently implementing D365, but we need to better understand how my department will use it (specifically the Projects module) for sponsored research. For example, assessing fringe and indirect costs (defining rates and bases), creating baseline configurations in general that align nicely with federal grants and contracts, etc., are some of our basic needs that seem like they will require some initial setup and won't "just work" out of the box. The product seems geared more towards industries like consulting or construction vs. academic research.
I would love to have an informal "customer reference" chat with someone who uses D365 like we want to — but any advice or experience that you could share would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Matt
