New position:
Research Compliance Coordinator
Reporting to the Director of the Office of Research Integrity (ORI), the Research Compliance Coordinator (RCC) will be responsible for supporting the faculty, staff, and administration by providing customer-oriented research administration services to facilitate the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's transition into an R1 research university. According to the 2019 NSF Higher Education Research and Development (HERD) survey, the University has reported $144 million in HERD expenditures.
Essential Job Duties: The main function of RCC is to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to the responsible conduct of research. RCC is responsible for such programs as the Human Research Protection, Animal Care and Use, Radiation Safety, Biosafety, Scientific Misconduct, Conflicts of Interest in Research, Export Controls and HIPAA, among others.
The RCC serves as a regulatory expert and coordinates activities directly related to research compliance, comprehensive analysis of human and animal research protocols, and conflict of interest certifications and disclosures. Reviews research submissions, and/or conflict of interest documentation for completeness and initial regulatory review categorization and compliance prior to regulatory committee (Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Conflict of Interest (COI), and Export Control) review. Works with researchers, staff and others to gather additional data when needed, may provide advice to researchers regarding submission problems and suggest solutions. Coordinates committee meetings and recommends faculty reviewers with applicable expertise, drafts official committee correspondence and meeting notes. Gathers information to assist with concerns of potential regulatory noncompliance in accordance with scope set by regulatory committee, drafts Inquiry/investigation reports and submits to the committee for appropriate action. Ensures federally mandated records are maintained. Reviews and approves administrative modifications to procedures. Provides regulatory and compliance education and training to faculty, staff, students, and committee members. Serves as the primary contact for regulatory audits and program/facility inspections. Composes reports to agencies and accreditation entities for Institutional Official review. Aids with implementation and problem-solving related to online compliance submission system. Collaborates with university committee members and groups to facilitate research approval. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Director, AVPR and VPR.
Minimum:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in research or research administration.
Preferred:
Master's, Ph.D. or JD degree with experience in a research compliance area.
CIP, CPIA, ECTI certification or ability to obtain highly desired.

Salary will be commensurate with training and experience. ($55,000-$65,000)
