This is almost always a problem with font availablility and the failure to
embed fonts or to use Type 1 fonts as recommended.  TeX/LaTeX users have a
particularly difficult time with this because the software uses lots of
custom (Type 3) fonts.

For those of you using MAC and Windows, there are special profiles
(Distiller options) which should be downloaded from Fastlane and inserted
into your software configuration folder.  It is fairly easy on these
systems to identify Type 1 fonts and use only those.  Of you have faculty
using TeX/LaTeX, there are some excellent documents by D.P Story,
University of Akron, on creating pdf documents from TeX software.  The URL is:
