Anne - I know we have had this same thing happen (what you described in your first email). I think on the NSF end, everything looked OK. In one case (and I can't remember if it was the one where the printed copy looked goofy) NSF called the PI and asked for us to submit the proposal in print because the electronic one was a little garbled. They said this was happening sometimes and they were working on it. But that was several months ago. I think you might be able to call David Hofherr (703/306-1145 x4686) at FastLane and ask him if it looks OK on his end. Seriously we may try to persuade all PIs to get '4. Most FL proposals go out without a hitch, but this missing letter problem is a gigantic pain when it happens. Anne W. Anne, We had this problem yesterday! It was a problem with embedded fonts. Our PI successfully solved the problem by following the Fastlane instructions for "Downloading the Windows Acrobat Distiller 4.0 'Fastlane' Profile." I've attached the link here. http://www.fastlane.nsf.gov/a1/Adobe4WinDwnld/Adobe4WinDwnld.htm Laurie Anne Womack wrote: > Has anyone had experience with a FastLane problem whereby > you have uploaded a file from either PDF or PS converted to PDF, > and the print screen shows a lot of missing letters in the text? > A further wrinkle is that when you look at the file separately > (Project Description, for instance), it looks fine.
