The following position is available at the University at Albany, State University of New York: Director of Sponsored Funds Accounting The Research Foundation of SUNY at the University at Albany invites applications for the position of Director of Sponsored Funds Accounting. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private, nonprofit educational corporation that administers contracts and grants on behalf of SUNY. Established in 1951, the Research Foundation facilitates research, education, and public service at 30 state-operated SUNY locations. The Office of Sponsored Funds Accounting at the University at Albany is responsible for the post-award financial administration of over $45 million annually in revenue and expenditures for research and training activities. Reporting to the Assistant University Controller, the Director of Sponsored Funds Accounting has the responsibility for the post-award financial administration of grants and contracts received by the Research Foundation of SUNY at the University at Albany. This individual will take a lead role in developing and implementing University policies regarding the administration of sponsored fund projects. The Director will directly supervise five full-time staff, as well as temporary employees and student assistants. The Director will have a high level of interaction with research project directors, Research Foundation central office staff, project sponsors, as well as various administrators throughout the campus. Responsibilities include insuring proper establishment of accounts, timely and accurate completion of transactions, billings, collections, payments, and reports, development and maintenance of cost accounting methodologies, and overall compliance with mandates of project sponsors and other external regulatory entities. The Director is expected to serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of research funding rules and regulations for the campus. The Director will also play an active role in the implementation of new integrated administrative computing systems by the University and Research Foundation. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have strong analytic and written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and insure the efficient and effective use of resources and technology. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting is required. A Masters degree and/or CPA is preferred. Must have a minimum of five years management experience, including experience with grants and contracts. Experience in higher education and developing and implementing automated financial systems preferred. Knowledge of rules and regulations related to federal and other grants a plus.
