We are going through analysis of our staffing levels in the Department of
Pediatrics.  I would appreciate responses to the 3 questions below, mainly
from departments (Pediatrics, Medicine, Genetics, etc.) within academic
medical centers (hospital, medical school, university).

1)  Do you have your own "shadow system" for tracking grants, accounting
staff, payroll person(s), etc., within your department, in addition to the
central hospital/university offices?

2)  If so, does a portion of the 26% administrative F & A return to your
department in some form?

3)  Do you have comparative experience, i.e. "with" and "without" internal
departmental staff?

Any information would be helpful, either to me separately or to the list.
