Some of our mathematicians use Ghostscript as their method to convert files to
PDF due to its high quality replication of  scientific notation fonts.  However,
be aware that if you choose do use Ghostscript for your PDF method, NSF Fastlane
only accepts Ghostscript 5.01 (i.e. the latest version).  Fastlane has some
instructions (disclaimers) about compatibility of both word processing and PDF
conversion software in its Fastlane section.
