Hi everyone,
Our IRB committee hasn't changed much in recent years and
when it has we have been able to replace the member with a
like member. Now we have two positions to fill and I started to
look at the committee as a whole to make sure our membership
is capable of meeting the requirements at each meeting. Here's
where I can't "compute" this week: the committee should have
"one member whose primary concerns are in scientific areas
and at least one member whose primary concerns are in
nonscientific areas". What's the difference between "scientific"
and "nonscientific"? Is it as simple as engineering vs business?
I want to equate "scientific" with "scholarly" which makes all faculty
"scientific" and, therefore, "non-scientific" would be a non-academic,
but that doesn't seem right, either.
Help this feeble brain!
