Re: Post award demands by faculty

I would appreciate the group's advice on an appropriate response to the following problem.
Two business faculty sought out and were awarded a grant ($50,000) for marketing research. They developed and signed off on the proposal including the budget that included a university match of almost $30,000. In response to a congratulation note from the president they responded as follows:
" We interpret your response as generally positive. However, we have grave concerns about control, support, and protection should we decide to go ahead with the grant. Would you be willing to meet with us sometime in the very near future to discuss our concerns and a very specific list of items we feel we would require to fulfill our obligations under the grant, to all those people who wrote us letters of support, and to pursue the long-term strategy we envision?"
What would you do (or advise the president to do)?
Thanks for any advice.
Jim
