Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for both pre-award
activities and post-award administration of federal, state, private profit
and private non-profit grants at the University of Houston. This individual
will: review proposals to external funding sources, from submission to
award; ensure adherence to sponsor and institutional requirements; develop
and review proposal budgets; ensure observance of governmental health and
safety compliance requirements; verify that all requirements regarding
governmental certifications are addressed; negotiate the terms and
conditions of grants with potential sponsors; research sponsors' financial
and administrative regulations applicable to funded projects; establish
accounts upon completion of negotiation; evaluate selected expenditure
documents according to sponsor and university guidelines for allowability
and appropriateness; coordinate timely submission of technical reports on
sponsored projects; provide guidance and expertise to department and college
business managers and faculty members on proposal and grant-related matters;
and coordinate award close out procedures. The individual will operate
under the Research Financial Services department in the Division of
Research.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent in-depth specialized
training program that is directly related to grant and contract
administration. Minimum of three years experience.
