P/S Grants -- has anyone heard from the beta sites

Colleagues,
I'm responding to Rochelle's question about PeopleSoft Grants.
The general release isn't available yet, but is expected out shortly
(September or October). As Bob Beattie noted, the module requires
PeopleSoft 7.5. Given where most of the betas are in their implementation
cycles, some of the non-beta schools may be ready to implement/go live on
the general release sooner.
We've been following the development of functionality within the Grants
module pretty closely. A couple of our clients are beta sites, so we're
reviewing the beta product - and demos of more recent versions - against
the functional requirements that schools are seeking to support research
administration (from end-to-end, throughout the research cycle). We've
actually pulled together a cross-functional team (research administration
specialists with process improvement, regulatory compliance, and
information systems expertise) to evaluate the product.
Anyway, since the product is new we are still collecting data and
documenting findings. The folks here would be happy to discuss their
observations. A great contact is Lisa Franciosa. She knows research
administration and has been testing the beta product:

Feel free to contact me as well:

I know there has been a lot of discussion about PeopleSoft in the research
admin community, so it will be interesting to follow the impact of this
product on the field. It might also be interesting to take our functional
requirements analysis a step further and use it to compare the relative
capabilities of a couple of products (any volunteers?).
One last comment:
As I'm sure you all know, other ERP vendors are developing software systems
for the research administration market. Oracle has made a major commitment
to this area, and SAP is also seeking to support functionality.
Hope to catch up with some of you at upcoming conferences.
Jim
