The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), a Ph.D.-granting university with
programs in engineering, science, architecture, design, business, law, and
psychology, is seeking individuals for two newly created positions.

GRANT INFORMATION SERVICES
IIT is looking for someone to lead this new area.   We are looking for a
high-energy individual with research administration experience as well as savvy
in marketing and fund-raising.  Some duties involved:
·       Identify and disseminate information to the faculty on research funding
opportunities.
·       Provide information to faculty on research funding agencies and contact
persons within each agency.
·       Contribute to the publication of the newsletter, “Research News” for
dissemination to administrative leadership, faculty and department heads
·       Act as liaison between funding agencies and faculty members for
proposal
submissions; visit various funding agencies to establish contacts.
·       Meet with faculty regularly in order to develop and maintain a faculty
research interest database.
·       Maintain a listing of faculty with interdisciplinary research interests
at IIT.
·       Arrange research interest group meetings at IIT.
·       Facilitate faculty travel and visiting program managers at various
funding agencies.
·       Offer seed money to potential faculty for exploring innovative ideas.
·       Maintain a research homepage to offer a gateway to many
research-related
tools and documents and graduate fellowships on the Internet.
·       Build an interactive research/education capability database.
·       Maintain a database of selected conferences & journals on research, NIH
instructional videotapes, government periodicals, publications of national
laboratories, state agencies information, etc.

Qualifications: Three years of research administration experience preferred.
Experience in the submissions of research proposals, soliciting external
funding for research, and management of research grants. Experience with
funding agency requirements and government research centers.  Experience in
marketing and fundraising.  Familiarity with government research announcements
and databases are crucial. A minimum college degree is required. Excellent
interpersonal skills and computer expertise are essential.  Some travel
required.  Salary negotiable based on experience.

RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
 IIT is looking for someone to lead this second new area.   We are looking for
a creative individual with research administration experience as well as
experience in writing and editing.  Some duties involved:
·       Create and publish general University information and statistics for
inclusion in funding proposals, as well as academic unit information as
necessary.
·       Offer grant writing workshops and seminars at IIT.
·       Assist faculty with pertinent literature searches for funding
proposals.
·       Review the text of funding proposals and provide editorial
assistance to
the faculty.
·       Offer writing assistance to the faculty and assist them with improving
the appearance of proposals.
·       Write and edit the newsletter, “Research News” for dissemination to
administrative leadership, faculty and department heads
·       Establish and manage a team of experts to pre-review funding proposals
before submission to the funding agency from IIT.
·       Increase the number of research interest groups and expand the
interdisciplinary activities in conjunction with IITRI.

Qualifications: Three years of research administration experience preferred.
Experience with research proposal writing and solicitation of external funding
for research. Experience with funding agency requirements and government
research announcements. A minimum college degree is required. Excellent
interpersonal skills, creativity and computer expertise are essential.  Salary
negotiable based on experience.
