Clinical Trial Revenue Sullivan Diane 22 Jul 1999 09:02 EST

Our external financial statement auditors are asking us to estimate the %
completion of each of our clinical trials and record the resulting revenue
based on the per patient fee for our institutional fiscal year end. In the
past we have always recorded the revunue when the payment was received from
the company and had not been concerned with exactly when it was earned. Any
revenue greater than expenses on ongoing trials was shown as a liability
until the clinical trial was completed and then recognized as revenue. I
was curious if any of the rest of you were experiencing the same request
from your external auditors or if this request was unique to Arthur
Andersen.

Thank you for your input.
