Greetings:
(I'm posting these two questions to more than one list, so please forgive
possible duplication.)
1. Do any of your schools have a policy or practice for "topping off"
sabbatical fellowships so that leave pay will be equal to regular pay?
(For example, faculty taking a full year sabbatical are eligible for 1/2
salary. Suppose the annual salary is $60,000; he or she would receive
$30,000. If a $25,000 fellowship is received, does the university make up
the difference with a $5,000 bonus? Is there a limit? what if the annual
salary was $100,000? Would the univ. go as high as making up a $25,000
difference? Is there any difference whether the fellowship is considered
"major" or especially prestigious?)
2. Do any of your schools provide a tuition remission benefit to post-docs
or other visiting professors or research scientists? (This of course
applies to those schools where regular employees receive a tuition
remission benefit for themselves or their immediate family members.)If so,
how is it paid for - is it included in the fringe benefit rate?
Thanks so much for taking the time to address these two issues.
