Software for NSF Fastlane

Here at MSU our goal is to be service oriented. We have created a Faculty
Resource area in our Research Pre-Award office. Faculty can come to review
directories, newsletters and much more. I also have a PC available to
quickly show a faculty person or student how to best use our web site and
the on-line databases (SPIN, COS, TGA) that we subscribe to. We also give
grantsmanship seminars, but they have an opportunity to have some
one-on-one computer help if they wish.
I have installed the PDF software on my Macintosh and also on the PC I
mentioned above. Faculty are welcome to bring their files over on a disk
to be transferred into PDF. It only takes a few minutes. Several faculty
and departments have purchased their own copies of the PDF software, but it
is not mandatory. We checked into an Adobe PDF site license a couple of
years ago and it was cost prohibitive. We also have a scanner available
for those letters of support. As I said, here at MSU our goal is to be
service oriented! (We are a campus of about 11,000 students, with research
expenditures of $52 million.)
