Many thanks to all of you who responded to my original question regarding the motivation of faculty.  Like Rusty I think we all do our part to motivate and encourage faculty to apply and especially reapply for funding. One area I have been promoting is to visit faculty in their offices.  Many of them feel more confortable, and I can show them how to find funding opportunities from their computer.  It's a good way for me to see how they are set up and we'll usually talk about the research they are presently doing or thinking about doing.  If you have any other thoughts, let me know!
