EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY Position Announcement Grant and Contract Officer & ERA Specialist The Office of Sponsored Programs, East Carolina University (ECU) seeks an individual to be a grant and contract officer with additional responsibilities in Electronic Research Administration (ERA). The position will combine typical duties of grant and contract administration along with responsibility for helping ECU establish and maintain Electronic Research Administration capabilities. Activities include: assist faculty in the development of grant and contract proposals and budgets to external funding agencies; identify funding sources for proposals; review grant and contract proposals for compliance with university and sponsor requirements; negotiate contract terms with external funding agencies; administer funded grants and contracts; organize and present at workshops, coordinate with federal and state agencies on ERA initiatives; review, test, and implement ERA systems for ECU; and provide staff training in the use of ERA systems and software. The position requires graduation from a four year college/university and one year of experience in personnel, budgeting, research, or administrative management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer a master's degree with at least two years experience in university research or grant administration. Also necessary are superior computer skills, written and oral communication skills, and budgetary skills. Knowledge of federal and private funding programs and regulations, as well as federal ERA initiatives and information technology requirements preferred.
