In response to Bill @ Wisconsin-River Falls:
Here at UofL, we keep a web page (http://research.louisville.edu) listing
recent funding opportunities, in addition to forwarding select announcements
to targeted faculty via e-mail. Only on rare occasions do we send information
via campus mail (though we always invite faculty to call our office if they
would like to receive hard copies). As for highlighting grantees, our office
supplies this information to our faculty/staff newspaper, so it is printed
there bimonthly.
You might try putting a counter on your web page (if there is not one there
already), in order to determine how many people are accessing your web site.
You mentioned that no one had noticed you quit sending the paper version,
perhaps they are checking your web site (or not checking, which means you
might want to send more targeted e-mails).
As for COS and SPIN, do you find a lot of overlap in these services? Would
you say one is better than the other? Could you give me pros & cons for both?
We are currently subscribed to SPIN and have looked into GENIUS/SMARTS, but I
have had a number of Med. School faculty express interest in COS.
