I missed this discussion last week, was attending the CUR April Dialogue.  At a
session on proposal-writing, a very senior NSF program officer told us that on
more than one occasion, a member of NSF's review panel was surprised to see his
name listed as a collaborater on a proposal up for funding.  Needless to say,
those proposals did not fare well.

Another cautionary tale . . .
