Accounting Manager
Department: Grant & Contract Accounting
Open until filled. Preference will be given to applications received by
4/23/99.
General Duties/Description:
* Provide leadership for personnel in four sections of the Grant and
Contract Accounting office including compliance, cash management
and reporting functions
* Manage staff including professional level Accountants, Accounting
Supervisors, Fiscal Specialists, Office Assistants and student interns
* Perform professional level accounting functions to include complex
reporting, analysis and reconciliation
* Participate in strategic planning, leadership development and continuous
Quality Improvement
* Interact with sponsors, faculty and staff and provide customer
assistance regarding University and Grant and Contract Accounting polices
and procedures
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related field
* Minimum of four years managerial or supervisory experience and four
years of accounting and computer experience
* Excellent interpersonal skills, a proven ability to exercise independent
judgment and excellent written and verbal communication skills are
essential
* Experience using personal computers, specifically using spreadsheet and
word processing software.
* Desire an understanding of management concepts and practices in a TQM or
Quality Improvement environment
* Desire knowledge of grant and contract accounting at a major research
university, fund accounting experience and a working knowledge of the
University's on-line Financial Accounting System
* Equivalent education/experience may substitute for stated requirements
Salary: $3,700 - 4,200 per month
