I was at a meeting in DC this week and there was a job announcement for a
proposal prep person at the Assistant Dean level for a university in
Georgia. I heard the range was $70-100K. It made me think of sports
coaches. They get paid a lot, but if they have a losing season they get
fired a lot, too. I don't see how anyone (and I'd guess this "anyone"
doesn't include Deans) can believe that jsutone proposal writer can write
all proposals. Even within a college, there are specialities, etc. With
$70K in the budget, one could hire a bunch of qualified consultants and
likely have a better hit rate.
