ASSOCIATE STAFF VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, COLLEGE PARK TITLE: Research Coordinator AS-5667 RESPONSIBILITIES: Liaison with university personnel and funding agencies regarding requirements/policies related to awarding and administration of research grants. Coordinate development of proposals for ISR faculty. This includes the development of project budgets, tracking and facilitating the internal progress of proposals in view of established deadlines and agency regulations, and assisting in the collection of documents necessary to process proposals. Monitor pre- & post- award status of proposals; provide status up-dates to faculty and administrators. Assist faculty and administrators with receipt and processing of gifts and ISR Affiliate Memberships; review agreements for appropriate language; facilitate processing through university and foundation channels. Maintain proposal/award tracking system and database. Maintain database of ISR total revenue. Develop/establish accounting system for monitoring and reporting in-kind and cash "match" to research awards to guarantee compliance with sponsor and university regulations. Provide general assistance in ISR financial matters by collecting, compiling, organizing and analyzing data to prepare reports for administrators, faculty, sponsoring agencies and industry as requested. Understand responsibilities of Assistant Director to provide support and serve as back-up during absences. Understand responsibilities of other finance unit personnel to provide assistance in their absence and provide clarification on issues of concern. Reports to Assistant Director of Finance. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's Degree (finance, business or related field preferred) Experience: 3-5 years related experience required; experience with sponsored programs, familiarity with financial regulations and procedures of UMCP and research sponsors preferred. Familiarity with techniques for collecting, compiling and organizing data. Numeric skills necessary to prepare and review budgets, develop accounting and reporting systems and provide financial reports for grants. Strong verbal & written communication skills and organizational ability. Knowledge of a variety of computer software including spreadsheets, databases and word processing programs needed.
