The Office of Sponsored Program Administration at the University of
Missouri-Columbia campus has an immediate opening for a GRANTS & CONTRACTS
ADMINISTRATOR in its Engineering & Physical Sciences satellite office.

DUTIES:  * Advise faculty and/or departmental staff in the preparation and
processing of grant related applications, ensuring compliance with sponsor
and institution policies.  Assist in preparation/revision of project
budgets.  * Draft and negotiate contract / agreement terms and conditions.
* Prepare and negotiate subcontracts, confidentiality, material transfer,
and other agreements.  * Create and maintain proposal/negotiation/award
files as needed in the satellite (discipline) office which is located on
campus but not in the main administration building.  * Coordinate with
Offices of General Counsel, Patents & Licensing, Insurance & Risk
Management, and other administrative areas as needed, to obtain various
required University approvals and signatures.  * Maintain up-to-date
knowledge and expertise in federal, state, and other agency regulations and
policies.  *Be familiar with and remain current on the federal/state laws
and OMB circulars (A-133, A-110, A-21) which affect sponsored program
activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in business administration,
accounting, finance, or related field; or an equivalent combination of
education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can
be acquired.  Three to four years' experience in grants and contract
administration and negotiation in a variety of areas (public education,
industry, foundations, etc.) is necessary. Incumbent will be responsible for
conducting negotiations with both federal and non federal sponsors.  The
University is expanding its research horizons by contracting with for-profit
corporations.  "Real world" negotiating experience and familiarity with
patent/licensing terms and conditions is a plus!

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Knowledge and experience of PreAward research
administration in an academic setting with the ability to interpret and
understand federal and non-federal regulations and operations policies of
sponsored research.  Ability to work in a fast paced environment with strict
deadlines.  Strong oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated
ability to work with internal and external personnel, exercising a strong
customer service ethic.  High degree of organizational skills and leadership
ability with the willingness to work as a team member and contribute to team
building.  Demonstrated skills in problem solving with ability to manage and
execute multiple tasks, respond to multiple demands, and consider multiple
alternatives.  Strong computer skills, including experience in electronic
research administration.

salary range:  $27,012 to $48,830  Benefit Eligible: 100%
