I think salary depends on their function and experience.
If an analyst that will spec systems and hand off programming to someone
else: 40-45k
If a developer working with Access/SQL server/VB: 40-50k
If a developer working with Oracle/PowerBuilder: 60k
If contract basis $75-$100 per hour
If just hardware person (not sure why you'd need this for ERA): 40k
I would say the key is buying the right functions as all the above will
provide very different services. In a small office a mixture of the top two
positions is the golden one ($50k+). In my opinion any system you may buy
will not be turnkey and will require additional work. You will often need a
full time person with programming/dbase design skills to handle the
transition and beyond. Ability to efficiently write reports in Crystal
Reports/Oracle/Access etc. is a skill everyone will need going forward as
will be someone who understands web servers and security.
