POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
 DIRECTOR OF SPONSORED PROGRAMS

 The University of Georgia

The University of Georgia is seeking a research administrator to
fill a key management position.  The Director of Sponsored
Programs will report directly to the Vice President for Research
and Associate Provost and will supervise a staff of
approximately twelve in providing a full range of pre- and post-
award services to faculty, principal investigators, and project
directors (including advising on preparation of grant and contract
proposals; reviewing of proposal narrative and guidance in
budget development; reviewing proposals for compliance with
sponsoring agencies/foundations; coordinating negotiations with
funding agencies; etc.).

Candidates must have bachelor’s degree in a related field
(advanced degree desired) and significant management level
experience in the following areas:

managementof sponsored programs in a university setting
strongtechnical expertise in grants and contracts,
 interfacing/negotiating with auditors
interactionwith funding agencies
applicationof computer technology to the administration of
 sponsored programs
excellentcommunication/interpersonal skills
demonstratedleadership and managerial skills and abilities
