Re: FastLane cover pages Sally Eckert-Tilotta (Sally Eckert-Tilotta) 05 Feb 1999 11:18 EST
To add to the confusion of deciding how to send the coverpage, is the fact that some program people at NSF are telling PIs to send these items via courier. They say we want them very quickly after the fastlane submission. I asked NSF to kindly discuss this issue with their program people. I received the same notice from NSF that Ruth referred to, and I pass that information on to the PI. At our institution, it is the PI's responsibility to do the mailing (and duplicating as appropriate). They decide what to do with the info I give them. Most recently, PIs have chosen to send them 2-3 day priority mail. Just don't trust regular mail to get there in 5 days from North Dakota. We are struggling with an issue regarding sending the FastLane cover sheets and signed certification pages to NSF (U.S. mail vs courier service). We received a message from NSF about a month or so ago requesting that institutions send the cover sheets via U.S. mail because signing for courier packages is so time consuming and opening courier packages is also time consuming and cumbersome. The point was also made that, if mailed on the day of the FastLane submission, there should be no problem with the cover page reaching NSF within 5 working days. (Yeah, right!) Did you get the same message from NSF? How are you dealing with this? Are you still sending them using courier services? If not, how are you sending them?
