I think the best scenario is to get signatures on the final proposal rather than a
draft. I agree with Bill--this is one of the reasons we get signatures, copy and
mail proposals for faculty. I also have on occasion gotten a signature on a draft
proposal but don't do it on a regular basis. I don't like to admit it but I've
also occasionally sent one out without the signatures if it is a fairly routine one
and we are in a real time bind. I try to check out the dean's or president's
schedule and plan around that if they are going to be off campus. (As we all know,
a schedule is hard to maintain when working on faculty proposals.) We're a small
institution and it usually works out.
