The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive corporate and foundation cultivation and fund-raising program in support of University excellence. The program will involve collaborative efforts between faculty, colleges and units, and development staff. Its goal is the acquisition of private contributions from foundations, corporations, business organizations, and associations for the highest priority needs of the University. The position is a joint effort of the divisions of University Advancement and Research & Information Technology. Specific responsibilities and duties include: * Coordinate development staff efforts in the identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of corporations and foundations for private gifts. * Actively cultivate and solicit corporations and foundations for private gifts. * Work with development staff, deans and unit directors, and associated faculty members to create and implement successful collaborative corporate and foundation development projects that address the University's highest priorities for research, scholarly excellence, program enhancement, and capital needs. * Encourage and review grant proposals initiated by faculty or staff as needed via the Proposal Approval and Support System. Coordinate and control submissions to managed key prospects. * Work with the Executive Director of Development and the Assistant Vice President for Research to develop and implement annual and long-range plans with measurable goals and objectives. * Participate as a member of the Central Development Coordination Team of the Office of University Advancement and the Office of Sponsored Programs Management Team for the Vice President for Research & Information Technology. Serve as a co-chair of the Proposal Approval and Support System Committee. * Serve as conduit between external constituency contacts and appropriate University areas; relaying issues, programs, and concerns for resolution and response (e.g., student preparation, post-graduate placement). * Perform other responsibilities as assigned and approved by both the Vice President for University Advancement and the Vice President for Research & Information Technology. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree and five or more years experience, and demonstrated success in the design, implementation, and execution of successful programs with an emphasis on corporate and foundation fund-raising. Effective interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and organizational skills are required. Comparable non-fund-raising experience also will be considered with the appropriate skills set. Preferred candidates will demonstrate successful proposal and grant-writing experience; prior positions or skills in corporate and foundation cultivation and solicitation; and fund-raising experience in a higher-education environment.
