Re: Needs Surveys -- PLEASE! Craig Heller 30 Jan 1999 23:32 EST
Elaine, good luck with your faculty survey on barriers to research. As a faculty member at Towson University, my biggest barrier is lack of time. Juggling research, service, teaching, etc. is a challenge. Therefore, I am making a career change from college teaching to grant writing. Can you offer any suggestions on strategies to make the change? I have written 3 successful grants and am a new member of NCURA. Do you know of good courses on grantsmanship in the Maryland, Washington, D.C. area? Also, how do I find out about job openings in grants? Do you think it is a good idea to send a message to members of the research administration discussion list and see if I can identify openings in this manner? Please share your thoughts.
