The revised PHS 398 and 2590 forms (4/98) are now available in Adobe Acrobat

 The following is a REPRINT from November 12, 1998 edition of the NIH
Guide (http://www.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/not98-158.html):

 "The revised (4/98) PHS 398 and PHS 2590 grant application forms
and instructions are now available, and may now be
 used by applicants. For the January/February 1999 application
receipt dates, use of the revised forms is encouraged. The
 new forms must be used for receipt dates of May 10, 1999 and
thereafter. The new PHS 398 and PHS 2590 application
 instructions and forms are available on the NIH grants Web site at
(http://www.nih.gov/grants/forms.htm)."

 Bottom line, use of the 4/98 version is not mandatory until May 10,
1999. FYI - We're in the process of reviewing and will post the
 version that is the cleanest and meets TRAM standards the best.

 IMPORTANT:

 On May 19, 1997 the DRG re-confirmed their approval to use font sizes
smaller than 10-12 point for completing any PHS forms,*
 suggesting no smaller than 8 point. However, the 10-12 point font size
is still required for the Research Plan.

 *PHS forms such as 398AA, BB, CC, DD, etc.

 In other words, on all forms except the research plan, 8 point IS
allowed!
